Machining an internal snap-ring retaining groove inside a deep, narrow cavity presented extreme approachability constraints. Standard boring bars collided with internal component ribs, while thin tools suffered from severe vibration and insert chipping.
Q Tech Products designed a custom low-profile grooving cartridge integrated into an asymmetric, vibration-damped tool shank. The cartridge maintained full insert support while clearing internal rib clearances with 0.8 mm safety margin.
