During PIP turning operations on automotive ignition rotor shafts, severe burr formation at shoulder junctions caused post-machining deburring bottlenecks. The customer was forced to use expensive zero-corner radius inserts which had extremely short cutting life.
Q Tech Products designed a proprietary twin-edged precision toolholder body with compound cutting angles. This design enabled the use of robust, economical standard 0.2 mm and 0.4 mm corner radius inserts while completely eliminating burr push-out.
